Drum roll… yes, we’re going virtual for the 25th anniversary of the Global Missions Health Conference. This has been a long and difficult decision for us but it’s the decision we feel is wise and made with tremendous prayer and a desire for the health and safety of everyone involved. Why has this been such a difficult decision? Well, we love getting together in person and will miss that opportunity this year. But seeing each other in person is not our primary purpose… mobilizing people into healthcare missions is our purpose and we’re committed to that goal.
This wasn’t an easy decision but we have an amazing community. It is packed with awesome experts and advisors who honestly have a great grasp on this whole COVID-19 situation and the trends around us today. And while many things are opening back up, there is also data pointing to cases growing and hospitalization increasing. We can’t predict the future for how things will look in a few months but we do know this… the GMHC is a gathering of thousands of people, healthcare professionals to be exact, who would be coming in from around the world, and many staying in host homes of Southeast Christian Church members. Talk about a compounding challenge! And so, we simply believe it’s the wise, prudent, and honoring thing to do for you and everyone else involved in this annual event.
The words from Esther just seem to ring true in a day like this and especially for you as a healthcare professional. For such a time as this, the Lord has equipped you to engage the world with your skills and care in such a unique way. We believe the GMHC is uniquely positioned to play an important and critical role in this time. We need to connect with one other, learn from each other, inspire each other, and map our own path forward to engage in this season well. There may be no greater time than now for us to host this virtual event.
So yes, we are committed to hosting a virtual event this year because we believe we have a calling to host this event for the community of medical missions and to be a catalyst for what the Lord is doing in healthcare missions. Now, if you’re like most of us, you’ve probably spent a good deal of time online these past few months. We realize that and are crafting a unique virtual event like no other… and that’s a promise. We are not simply repurposing our live event content and displaying it on a virtual platform, we are doing so much more. Why? Because as we stated above, we’re committed to helping you take that next step.

Yes, you can still do the GMHC in community with others! The experience of this event is about great content and connections. Doing the GMHC with others can help you better process what you're learning and navigate to what might be next. Find out more about the GMHC 2020 resources for Simulcasts and Watch Parties.
Experience of Renewal & Being Challenge - The GMHC offers a unique time of connection with other people that share a passion for healthcare missions. Our in-person event has always offered time for renewal and challenge, and our virtual event will do the same. You will walk away from this time together knowing you are not alone and ready to take the next step in mission.
Guided Connections with Personalized Matches - The virtual event will allow us to uniquely match you with the sessions, organizations, and mentors that most fit your needs. Because you don’t have to navigate a physical space, we can guide you directly to the most helpful resources.
World-Class Teaching and Best Practices - No matter whether we have an event in person or virtually, GMHC offers some of the best Biblically-based teachings on healthcare missions that you will find. Our committee works diligently to look through every submission, develop a framework, and ensure that every important topic is covered. Most importantly, they pray for you and all the speakers throughout the year.
Expanded Vision for God’s Call in Your Life - When you come to the GMHC, we expect that you will walk away changed. It’s not just the speakers, not just the worship, not just the immersion experience. It is the way God speaks to you throughout your time and that won’t change when we create a virtual conference. We fully expect God to speak through every virtual experience you have during our time together.
We will be sending more information through the coming weeks and commit to you to communicate well. Much of that will be explaining what we’re doing and how you can get the most out of this event.
And if you’ve already registered for the event, someone from our team will be in touch with you about a refund of the difference in cost.
Our challenge to you… join us for this unique opportunity and share it with others. And you know something else amazing? So many more people can now have access to joining us for this event because we’re not geographically locked. We are so excited about what the Lord is going to do through all of this.
