Marriage in Healthcare Missions

Increasing numbers of dual-healthcare professional couples are being called by God into healthcare missions. These partnerships can generate amazing ministry opportunities. But there are challenges as well, as traditional gender roles and responsibilities don't apply when both husband and wife have significant medical and ministry responsibilities outside the home. If you're in a dual-medical relationship, working with a dual-medical couple in healthcare missions, or just curious about this topic, then this webinar is for you. You'll hear from three veteran dual-healthcare missionary couples as they share their experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and suggestions for a healthy marriage in this unique context.

Short-Term Missions: Can They Impact the World in a Week?

Short-term missions have their place in reaching the world with the Gospel.  However, there are critical steps to effectiveness before, during and after the trip. When done well these details will make the trip fit neatly into the Great Commission.  If they are missed, however, the trip might be a waste of mission resources. Take the opportunity to discuss short-term missions with someone who has led 100 mission trips in the U.S. and 40 countries around the world.

Resilience in Healthcare Missions

Joining God in global missions through medicine is a great privilege. However, too often healthcare providers who engage in cross-cultural medical missions struggle to remain resilient and often burnout. The journey to burnout has deleterious and even devastating consequences on the health and well-being of the healthcare provider, their family, team members and the very people healthcare providers seek to serve. In this session we will explore some of the key principles for preventing burnout and nurturing resilience so we can grow in our call to serve through medical missions. We will examine what it looks like for a healthcare provider to live out the ancient proverb quoted in Luke 4:23, “…Physician heal thyself…” and discuss practical ways to grow as a winsome witness of Jesus wherever we are called to serve.

Preparing for Service in Resource-Poor Settings

You are a doctor, nurse, NP, or PA and ready to go to the mission field. Are you ready to tackle the challenges of working in a resource poor setting? What should you expect? How different will it be? What diseases will you see and how will you know how to treat them? These are all important questions to ask and things to think and pray through as you prepare for overseas medical missions. Join us on this virtual session as we explore some of these topics and share some personal experiences from providers with extensive time spent in medical missions.
