The Somali Civil War coupled with interviewing over 600 believers in Jesus from approximately 72 countries provides a fertile learning environment for health care workers and all believers from the West who follow Jesus’ command to “go” as sheep among wolves. What role does listening play in healing and regaining a sense of self?

Objectives

1. Establish the importance of listening as “triage” among Somalis, Palestinians and others in Civil War and famine.
2. Introduce the use of “free conversations” for health care workers (and others).
3. Understand how telling “my story” gives believers in persecution purpose from the horror of the suffering.
