Despite improved preventive efforts, malaria still kills approximately 500,000 people every year - mostly children and pregnant women in sub-Saharan Africa. This session will update current knowledge about malaria, review clinical presentations and diagnostic testing, and discuss treatment and prevention.

Objectives

Participants will:
1. be able to explain how malaria parasites reproduce and get into humans
2. capably diagnose and manage malaria
3. implement appropriate preventive strategies
