I am so appreciative for the opportunity I had to go on this medical mission trip to Nicaragua and will be looking to go on another trip next summer. This was the perfect way to combine my passion for God and medicine. As a first year PA student, my first few days involved much doubt regarding my intellectual competency in helping those who were suffering physically. During those feelings of doubt though, Philippians 4:6-7 was an anchor which provided peace. It says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” God provided just that, a peace that I have never experienced before. I've heard it said that God uses us in our weakness to make much of Himself and now I can say I've experienced that firsthand. Thanks GHO for allowing me an opportunity to experience that.
