Ever since I decided to follow Jesus, I developed a strong passion and dedication toward missions. In high school, and college, I developed a strong interest toward medicine and ultimately combined my secular passion with my passion for Jesus and it resulted in Medical Missions. Since then, I did participate in local missions to serve Native Americans in Minnesota and Wisconsin mainly due to my lack of U.S citizenship. Fortunately, I got my U.S citizen in 2015 and in spring of 2017, I participated in my first international medical missions during my first year of medical school . Frankly, I did not expect anything during my medical mission to Dominican Republic. I just wanted to go with the mindset of, "Whatever they need me to do, I will do it." Bible teaches us that if you are faithful with little, you will be faithful with much and that was true in my mission field. At first, I served the mission field by delivering medications, and running some boring errands but eventually, I was allowed to shadow physician and interact with patients on a personal level. During that time, I witness where the patient was heart-broken after hearing that she has been diagnosed with pneumonia. She thought the disease will lead to death, but the physician and I quickly comforted her saying that pneumonia is treatable with some antibiotics. From swarming with heart-broken thoughts to overflowing joy and hope, she began to say "thank you" repeatedly. So, after the missions trip, my dream of becoming a medical missionary became certain. The joy of helping others through the mean of medicine was indescribable. My motivational verse of medical missionary comes from Matthew 9:35 where Jesus went to different towns, spreading the word of God and healing every disease. That was what I did at mission trip and that is what I want and will be doing in later times of my life. Now, I am studying hard to become the best physician that God has called me to be so that I can be prepared when he calls me to other nations to heal and preach the good news of Jesus Christ.
