I am a full time medical missionary working the country of South Africa for the last 8 years. Our base camp is located on Shikwaru Game Lodge in the Northern Province of Limpopo. I am a professor at Des Moines University Medical School in Iowa and we host fourth year students from this medical school for 1 month clinical rotations giving them experience in our 500 bed Provincial Hospital in treating AIDS, malaria, cholera and malnutrition that they rarely would see in America. Over the last 3 years we have had 50 students participate in these rotations. We also do lots of general mission work in feeding 5000 children every day throughout South Africa. In August of 2011 we planted our first church in a rural tribal village. We also do multiple outreaches doing optical refraction and distributing free glasses to over 30,000 people during the last 5 years. We are just starting a new partnership working with Samaritan’s Feet distributing free shoes to impoverish people in South Africa. Medical mission trip participants have the opportunity to join us making home visits to patients with AIDS too ill to come into the clinic. Our ministry focuses on doing lots of short term mission trips usually 10 each year. We welcome all medical and lay people to join us on our mission trips. Trip participants get to enjoy life changing mission experiences as well as world class photo safaris and other tourist activities like golfing, lion walks and elephant rides.

We are seeking full time missionaries to assist us in hosting 10 American short term mission teams. Also in need of missionaries to help us teach the local Africans how to sew, farm and work in construction. You will be living at our base camp on a beautiful safari game farm in the middle of the Waterberg Mountains. One year renewable commitment with 3 months in American raising funds and connecting with friends and family and 9 months on the mission field.
