2022 GMHC Research Poster Presentations

The Global Missions Health Conference is excited to offer Research Poster Presentations at our conference. The poster session is designed to give attendees an opportunity to informally present and discuss their research with colleagues.  We are currently accepting abstracts involving research in any area of healthcare missions (including but not limited to medicine, nursing, behavioral health, public health, dentistry, OT/PT).  All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by our Research Poster Committee and authors will be notified of the status of their submission by the end of July or the beginning of August. 

Overview

Submission of an abstract signifies the intent to display a poster during the GMHC Poster Session at the 2022 GMHC conference.  The deadline for submitting an abstract is 11:59 PM EST, May 31st, 2022Abstracts submitted after this deadline will not be accepted. The total body of the abstract may not exceed 2,500 characters including spaces. Figures and tables are not allowed. The abstract must include the following: title/heading, background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Title/Heading: Include name of presenting author(s) and any associated institution.

Background: One or two sentences that describe the importance of the study question.

Objectives: The main objective(s) or study question should be explicitly stated. If a study was designed to test an a prior hypothesis, it should be stated.

Methods: Should include statements that address the study design, setting, subjects, and the method of data collection and analysis. 

Results: The main outcomes of the study should be provided and quantified, including any outcomes of interest and main outcome measures.

Conclusions:  A summary of the research should be provided as well as implications for practice or further research. 

General Information

  • Authors who have submitted abstracts will be contacted by the end of July with regards to the the status of their submission.
  • Authors of accepted abstracts must register for the GMHC within 30 days of abstract acceptance.
  • The GMHC does not cover registration costs for poster presenters.
  • Poster set up will occur between 8am-12pm on Thursday.  All posters must be in place by 12pm on Thursday for the start of the conference.
  • Posters will be displayed from 12pm on Thursday to 12pm on Saturday. Presenters should be at their posters between 12:00-1:00pm on Friday. 
  • All posters must be taken down by 12pm on Saturday. (The GMHC will not be responsible for any poster that is lost or damaged)
  • The poster board will be 3 feet tall by 4 feet wide, mounted on a stand.
  • Metal clips or tape will be available on-site for mounting the displays.
  • A chair will be provided for each Poster Session presenter.
  • No audiovisual equipment is permitted for poster presentations.
