This presentation will provide details on the essential resources and materials needed for a successful short-term mental health clinic for communities in underserved countries based on seven global trips that the presenter has designed and led (that will total ten trips after before the GMHC November 2026 conference). This presentation will address effective ways to screen potential participants along with the issues and limitations surrounding handling risk and corresponding short-term interventions that attempt to mitigate the risk. The presenter will also provide insight on how to approach, with confidence, an established organization that already provides short-term medical services to impoverished communities abroad and that might be open to augmenting their offerings with mental health. This presentation will be based on the presenter’s leadership, practice, and experience abroad.
