This past July, I was fortunate enough to travel to El Salvador with a team of 70 health care professionals to serve in a medical mission trip. One of the main aspect of the trip was to provide the people of El Salvador medical, dental, and optical help, but a huge aspect of this trip was to share our faith with them. While I am blessed to grow up in a Catholic family, it has been very difficult at times for me to express my faith to others. I've always been the person to keep my faith and beliefs to myself and have hardly spoken out to others about my faith. But to be able to be in the presences of others who were open to showing their love to God and share their testimonies of God's hand at work in their lives was truly a humbling experience.

It was so encouraging to see the love and faith from our host pastors and church. Not only was this experience a great learning opportunity professionally, but it has truly touched me spiritually. Many of our patients that we served had so very little or limited access to health care and other things yet they were so rich in faith and love for God.

My message to others who have not gone on a medical mission trip would be to stay open minded in the way that God works and open to the Lord using you in ways you'd never imagine. I pray that the people of El Salvador will soon be safe and the violence and unrest be put to an end.
