I am employed at International Aid. It is a ministry. It is 33 years old and specializes in supplying medical products and equipment to it's partners serving in developing countries.
My previous employment years were in hospitals as a biomedical electronics tech and on the road as a field engineer. Everywhere I went there was discarded equipment and I was asked just what could be done with it instead of throwing it out.
I had no idea.
No idea, that is until I encountered International Aid, an organization located in Spring Lake, Michigan, halfway up the mitt on Michigan's "left" coast.
I joined the ministry a few years after contacting them about having some equipment to donate to them for testing and resending to developing country's hospitals or clinics.
Just a few months after the start of my job there I made my first trip; I was sent on a 2 week journey to Ghana and Liberia, visiting Cuttington University, Phebe Hospital, Valley View University and Corle Bu Hospital with a few stops at clinics in between.
A couple years later I was sent to Hospital Bernard Mevs - Project Medishare and to Lumiere Hospital both in Haiti.
Please understand that even though I went as an employee, for specific purposes, IA is in fact a ministry and my trips were only slightly different than any missions trip I know of.
International Aid's mission statement: "International Aid glorifies Christ by providing health care products and equipment to global partners serving people in need."
