From NJ Varughese, Founder and President, of All India Mission and Shanti Bhavan Medical Center.

Last month a boy, Neel, of 18 years was struck by an 18 wheeler truck and trailer on the narrow road in front of the hospital. He was rushed to the hospital with two crushed legs. Immediately, our orthopedic surgeons started cleaning his wounds and assessing the injuries. They told his family that they would do their best to save one of his legs, but the other needed to be amputated. With their consent our surgeons amputated his left left, and after eight hours of surgery, were able to save the right leg.

Neel will need to stay at Shanti Bhavan Medical Center for about another 4 months. Every day his wounds are dressed with special care in a sterile room. He will also begin physical therapy when the wounds have healed. His family is very poor and his father is a farmer. We are so thankful to the
Lord that our hospital was close and is available for children like Neel. He wouldn't have been able to receive the care that he did elsewhere, without any money. We ask for prayer for Neel during this healing process. We ask for prayer over his family as they make the adjustments needed to care for this child. We ask for prayer over the process of finding a prosthetic leg in the future. Neel may have lost his leg, but his life was spared. Now, he is learning about Jesus and how his life can be saved through Christ. Neel hopes to go to school in the future. He wants to work in the hospital and help save others.
