Frequently Asked Questions

What types of continuing education credit can I get?

Session credits for continuing education vary per session. Some sessions qualify for a variety of credits while other sessions only qualify for one type. Each session with continuing education has an abbreviation that can help you determine what types of credits you can get for that session. For the official documentation of the credit offered for each session, please refer to the welcome letter (available at conference). At the GMHC event, there are documents available which include the URL and instructions you will need to follow so that you can receive the continuing education credits. Obtaining credits for pharmacy sessions will require following the instructions in the pharmacy packet which is also available. Please note that there is a timeline to being able to apply for and obtain these credits.

 

P = Physician 

Physician Credit: The Christian Medical & Dental Associations designates this educational activity for a maximum 

of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

 

FP= Family Practice 

AAFP: The AAFP has reviewed Global Missions Health Conference and deemed it acceptable for up to 8.5 Live AAFP Prescribed credit. Term of Approval is from 11/6/2025 to 11/8/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity 

 

D = Dental

Dental Credit: Christian Medical & Dental Associations Nationally Approved PACE Program Provider for FAGD/MAGD credit.  Approval does not imply acceptance by any regulatory authority or AGD endorsement.  1/1/2023 to 12/31/2026  Provider ID# 218742 

8.5 Lecture Hours Available. No prior level of skill, knowledge, or experience is required (or suggested)  Course designed for physicians and dentists and other healthcare professionals 

 

NP = Nurse Practitioner

Nurse Practitioner Credit:  The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME. Individuals are responsible for checking with the AANPCP for further guidelines. Nurse practitioners may receive up to 8.5 credits for completing this activity. 

 

PA= Physician Assistant

Physician Assistant Credit:  AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) by an organization accredited by the ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive up to 8.5 credits for completing this activity. 

 

N= Nursing

Nursing Credit: Determination of credit is pending. 

 

How do I get credit?

At the GMHC, there are documents you will be able to get which include the URL and instructions you will need to follow so that you can receive the continuing education credits. Obtaining credits for pharmacy sessions will require following the instructions in the pharmacy packet which will also be available. How many credits can I get?

You may collect up to 10.25 credit hours depending on the type of credit, however each session you attend must be approved for continuing education. The sessions will need to be attended “live” however may be attended in person or virtually. 

 

When do I have to attend the sessions?

As stated previously, the sessions will need to be attended “live”, you can only attend one session at a time - the sessions you attend cannot be concurrent. 

 

Why is a session not qualified for continuing education?

Many factors play a role in a session obtaining continuing education credits and there are factors outside of our control (for example, having the abstract and objectives within a specific time frame for the applications). 

 

Is there at time limit to applying for credits after the GHMC?

Yes. Many of the credits must be applied for within a specific time limit. Please follow the instructions in your continuing education packets for additional information.
