Medicine and the Kingdom of GodWhy would God care about medicine? Philosophies of medical missions have tended to fall into two major caricatures. One sees medicine as a means to an ends, the goal being the verbal presentation of the Gospel message about sin, Christ, and forgiveness. The other holds medicine as an ends to itself whereby the caregiver demonstrates love and compassion, thereby demonstrating the Gospel and fulfilling his/her call. We will explore the strengths and short-comings of both extremes in order to challenge all sides and clarify a biblical theology of medical missions.
