Since 1997, Carolina Honduras Health Foundation has been providing medical missions to the Dept. of Colón, Honduras. Today, the organization focuses on providing comprehensive care through prevention, community development, in-person and telemedicine mission teams, and medical referrals. Over 350 volunteers, US staff and our partner Honduran organization work together to serve over 12,000 people living in remote mountain villages, providing over 10,000 medical, dental and vision visits per year. Purpose of the position:
The Volunteer Engagement Manager drives peer-to-peer fundraising and coordinates/supports medical mission teams and telemedicine. The Manager will serve as a passionate ambassador for CHHF, engaging and motivating volunteers, both new and existing. This position is responsible for maintaining the CHHF brand and standards of care developed, and working with volunteers to understand their role and responsibilities to maintain the brand. The Manager actively works to deepen relationships across all volunteers to increase retention and increase fundraising conversions and revenue.

Job Location & Hours: 
This position will primarily work from home and must have a high speed internet service and dedicated office space available. Potential travel for in-person board meetings, events, and to clinic in Limón, Honduras. Hours will be flexible and will include evenings and weekends.


Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and lead peer-to-peer fundraising programs to benefit CHHF. These could include Giving Tuesday, virtual events, local walk-a-thons, etc.
  • Work with Executive Director to steward a portfolio of 350+ volunteers with the goal of converting 25% to active CHHF fundraisers through personal outreach and encouragement. Engage top fundraisers in portfolio effectively in the work of CHHF and ensuring that the work is communicated with integrity.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Team Leaders as they prepare for mission trips. Anticipate Team Leader needs and assist with team member recruitment, budgeting and trip planning throughout the process.
  • Recruit Volunteer Team Leaders and assist in developing their mission team. Train Team Leaders on the importance of maintaining the integrity of the clinics CHHF provides. Encourage an understanding of the policies, procedures, and processes developed to maintain continuity amongst mission teams.
  • Maintain appropriate communication with Team Leaders throughout the year. Keep Team Leaders informed of information that will impact their trip and their team. Update them regularly about staffing and changes in Honduras.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on mission trip participation. Work with Team Leaders to solicit Mission Moment stories from team members.
  • Recruit and schedule (via Sign-up Genius) medical providers to participate in Telemedicine at various times throughout the year.
  • Update donor and volunteer information in to Salsa CRM and utilize Salsa Engage for group email correspondence.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned

 

 

Competencies and/or Relevant Experience:

  • Demonstrable commitment and interest in CHHF mission.
  • Work with a small, national and international team
  • At least 2 years relevant NGO experience, including at least two of the following areas of work: fundraising, volunteer engagement, training and communications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Communications or related field.
  • Excellent computer skills including in-depth knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in use of Donor Management CRM software, Salsa Labs knowledge a plus.
  • Proven record in fundraising; development of peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives is a plus.
  • Ability to inspire and lead others to participate in the promotion of CHHF programs.
  • Volunteer management experience and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and achieve significant results. 
  • Positive demeanor with great affection for other people and ability to function well in both a leadership and support role.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English, ability to communicate in Spanish is preferable.
  • Able to understand both American and Hispanic cultural contexts in relationship-building.

Compensation:

  • Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience (factors considered include education level and qualification fit, proven track record of results, previous salary history, and professional recommendations).; $19-$24/hour
  • Remote, Part-time or Full time/Exempt Position
