Located in Bomet, Kenya, Tenwek Hospital serves as the primary hospital for the area’s 1 million people and is also a referral hospital that receives patients from across the country. Additional staff is needed to meet the patient demand. Join the medical and spiritual ministries at Tenwek by serving as a pediatrician. In this role, you would work as a hospitalist in the pediatric ward, the ICU, and the NICU; attend deliveries; and consult for the outpatient clinics and the emergency room. The pediatrician is also directly involved in teaching and mentoring.
Tenwek Hospital is a ministry of World Gospel Mission and Africa Gospel Church. The hospital, which started as a single-nurse dispensary in 1937, is now a 300-bed hospital and training center. In addition to being the area’s primary hospital, Tenwek serves as a referral hospital that receives patients from throughout the country. Tenwek is also a growing teaching hospital. Training programs include family practice, surgical residency, medical and clinical internships and student rotations, hospital chaplaincy, and nursing.
