Overview
Located in Bomet, Kenya, Tenwek Hospital serves as the primary hospital for the area’s 1 million people and is also a referral hospital that receives patients from across the country. Tenwek is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible pathologist. Though Tenwek has much of the necessary equipment, pathology specimens are currently sent out to other facilities. Thus, an interested pathologist should be willing to work toward building a pathology lab and program. With over 2,000 specimens annually, including more than 600 cancer specimens, the breadth of pathology is tremendous. A new cancer registry has allowed for tracking the burden of cancer at Tenwek. Additionally, there is ample opportunity for research and teaching trainees through Tenwek’s training programs. Tenwek provides a unique opportunity to teach trainees and care for the underserved in an environment of Christ-centered service.
