Overview

Christ Community Health Services’ (CCHS) FM and IM physicians provide high-quality, distinctively Christian care, addressing medical and spiritual healthcare needs for the underserved in Memphis. Physicians will provide professional comprehensive medical services for ambulatory CCHS patients and hospitalized patients, if applicable.  Opportunities include care and management of prenatal patients, HIV and hepatitis C care, medication-assisted therapy for opioid addiction, and refugee care.

Requirements

  1. Doctor of medicine or osteopathy degree from an accredited institution of medicine or osteopathy.
  2. Completion of a residency program with Certification of Specialty Training.
  3. Board Certification (or eligibility) in area of Specialty Training and maintenance of certification.
  4. State license to practice medicine in the state of Tennessee.

Responsibilities

  1. The physician will provide professional medical services for outpatients on a part time or full time basis as described in their contracts.
  2. Physician will work within a multi-disciplinary care team to provide patient-centered care. The physician will provide clinical leadership within the team.
  3. Physician will see roughly 18 - 20 patients per full day of clinic.
  4. The physician will attend staff meetings and medical provider meetings and maintain a level of involvement with the health center committees as needed to ensure quality of care for patients.
  5. Physicians are to participate in peer review, performance evaluations/improvement data, and other activities to evaluate and advance quality improvement measures.
  6. The physician will collaborate with nurse practitioners (NP) or physician assistants (PA) as appropriate, including signing off NP or PA notes, and may be asked to assist in the educational training of Medical Students and Residents.  
  7. Physician will participate in the home call rotation appropriate to his/her specialty on a schedule that is determined by the staffing level.
  8. If performing inpatient care, the physician will perform duties specified by the respective hospitals to maintain admitting privileges in order to provide diagnosis and treatment of clinical disease in patients who require hospitalization.  
  9. Physicians are expected to participate in Continuing Medical Education, including Life Support Training, etc., to maintain the skills necessary to perform their duties and as required by their boards and the state.
  10. The physician will perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of Medicine.
