Working to Prevent the Spread of Ebola in West Africa

Christian Health Service Corps missionary surgeon Dr. Jean Young and her husband Bob have been working with community leaders to help prevent the spread of Ebola. With good prevention strategies in place before Ebola arrives in a community many lives can be saved. This was one of many planned programs given for tribal chiefs, their secretaries, and opinion leaders. Nearly 120 people attended this first class despite a rainstorm that threatened to discourage participants.

Dr. Young serves as the Medical Superintendent at Saboba Medical Center in remote northern Ghana along the Togo boarder. She is a board certified pediatric surgeon who cares for both adults and children. They have also working hard preparing the hospital for the likelihood of receiving Ebola patients. Ghana is considered extremely high risk because it is a central travel hub for all of West Africa.

Please keep Dr. Jean and Bob, their community, and all of West Africa in prayer. This disease continues to claim many lives each day. Thank You for your prayers and support for all of our staff in Ebola affected, or possibly soon to be affected, areas.
