Continued Education at the GMHC

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of continuing education credit can I get?

Session credits for continuing education vary per session. Some sessions qualify for a variety of credits while other sessions only qualify for one type. Each session with continuing education has an abbreviation that can help you determine what types of credits you can get for that session. For the official documentation of the credit offered for each session, please refer to the downloadable welcome letter (available at the top and bottom of this page). At the bottom of the home page of the GMHC event, there are downloadable documents which include the URL and instructions you will need to follow so that you can receive the continuing education credits. Obtaining credits for pharmacy sessions will require following the instructions in the pharmacy packet which is also downloadable in the same space. Please note that there is a timeline to being able to apply for and obtain these credits.

How do I get credit?

At the bottom of the home page of the GMHC event, there are downloadable documents which include the URL and instructions you will need to follow so that you can receive the continuing education credits. Obtaining credits for pharmacy sessions will require following the instructions in the pharmacy packet which is also downloadable in the same space. Please note that there is a timeline to being able to apply for and obtain these credits.

How many credits can I get?

You may collect up to 7 credit hours, however each session you attend must be approved for continuing education. The sessions will need to be attended “live”, meaning that you cannot watch a session with continuing education credits a month later and then apply for the credits.

When do I have to view the session?

As stated previously, the sessions will need to be attended “live”, meaning that you cannot watch a session with continuing education credits a month later and then apply for the credits. Think of it similarly to the traditional GMHC – you can only attend one session at a time and the sessions you attend cannot be concurrent. The same philosophy applies here.

Why is a session not qualified for continuing education?

Many factors play a role in a session obtaining continuing education credits and there are factors outside of our control (for example, having the abstract and objectives within a specific time frame for the applications).

Is there at time limit to applying for credits after the virtual GHMC?

Yes. Many of the credits must be applied for within a specific time limit. Please follow the instructions in your continuing education packets for additional information. Pharmacy session credit must be completed by December 13, 2020.
